In the garden this month with Hazel King

With a hot dry summer in front of us think about the following:-

  • Water – conserve its use.  Apply to vegetables, pots and special plants.  If possible, move pots to a shady area, particularly if they are placed on an exposed terrace or in a windy position.
  • Add compost, manure and water saving products to garden beds, and water saving products to pots.  Add mulch to pots.
  • Apply mulch to the garden following rain.  Do not mulch dry soil.  Do not water lawns.  Remember that dry nature strips return to green following rain.
  • Take note of those plants coping with drought conditions.  HK
