BERRY PUBLIC SCHOOL – NATURAL STUDIES AND PLANT PROPAGATION CENTRE

In a nursery established by a retired principal and a former BPS teacher, Garden Club member Lyn Clark heads a team of dedicated volunteers who share their passion for local flora and extensive botanical knowledge with lucky BPS students. They teach native plant propagation to students who then have the opportunity to plant these seedlings in the local area including the school’s own Habitat Forest. After exploring the nursery, come wander this tree orchard which is a collection of local shrubs, trees, and groundcovers and serves as a seed bank for our local endemic species as well as a habitat for wildlife. Also, a series of educational raised garden beds have been established to coordinate with specific lesson plans used by teachers in the school’s new science curriculum. All of these resources are part of the reason that Berry Public School was recently voted the best public school in Australia! The sale of native plants will be available as well.
